I'm Aoi Hashima , an occupational therapist working in Saga Sumai and Fukuoka.
When practicing how to use chopsticks with numb hands, there are probably many people who practice using self-service chopsticks, or use self-service chopsticks when eating.
We sometimes use simulated ingredients when using buffet chopsticks or practicing easy-to-use chopsticks outside of an actual dining setting.
In real food, there may be ingredients that are distorted, sticky, or small and difficult to pick up with chopsticks.
We will introduce the simulated ingredients that are actually used in our clinic.
I would appreciate it if you could refer to it.
sponge (small)
A dish sponge is cut into 2 cm squares.
The sponge is elastic and easy to squeeze with chopsticks.
sponge (large)
A dish sponge is cut into 3-4 cm squares.
When you have to pick up a large piece of food during an actual meal, you need to spread the tip of your chopsticks out in order to pick up the food, scoop it up, or pierce the food with the tip of the chopstick.
If it is the size of a sponge (large), you can practice spreading the tip of your chopsticks.
pasta
It is a more difficult analog ingredient than sponge.
Comes in a variety of shapes so you can practice picking up irregularly shaped objects you encounter in actual dining situations.
At the end
This time, we introduce the simulated ingredients used in our clinic for chopstick practice.
We look forward to helping you.
