I'm Aoi Hashima , an occupational therapist working in Saga Sumai and Fukuoka.
When various problems arise, or when you want to set a new goal, don't you know how to fix them?
When I want to solve a problem, I use "goal-oriented" thinking.
"Goal Attainment Orientation" is an approach that incorporates logical thinking that treats "problems/issues" and "answers" as a set.
It's hard to organize your thoughts if you're thinking about floating things all the time.
In goal orientation, you always know what your goals are and organize your thoughts accordingly.
In this way of thinking, it is important to distinguish between "ends" and "means."
This time, I want to write about how to separate ends and means when you're stuck in a dead end or trying to solve something.
write down your goals
While providing recovery support after a stroke, you will be able to see your goals through discussions with patients.
In the beginning, the goal may not be specific, or it may be a sentence, such as leaving the hospital at home.
It can be difficult to come up with clear goals immediately after a stroke, and it often takes time to grasp the current situation.
However, the days are flying by and the 180 days I can recover in the hospital (with health insurance) are approaching.
From the moment you started to understand your current situation, there must be some of you struggling with things like "I have to do this" and "What should I do?"
During this time, you may be asked, "What are your recovery goals?"
To organize your thoughts, write down the things you want to do, the things you have difficulty with, the things you want to achieve, the things you want to achieve. "and many more.
Write down your ideas, regardless of priority or achievability.
There may be some commonalities when writing a lot.
Writing a lot may have a necessary goal.
First, if the thoughts in your head aren't organized, write more.
distinguish between goals and means
If you can find a "goal" from "things you want to do," "things you're in trouble with," and "things you want to achieve," think about the purpose of that goal.
For example, suppose the goal appears to be "discharge home."
So, let's think about the "purpose" of "discharge".
Everyone's purpose is different.
The purpose of home discharge is to
✔️ Resume self-employment
✔️ Because your family is waiting
✔️Because I want to be discharged early
and many more.
When you think this way, you dig deeper and think specifically about your purpose.
□ Resume self-employment in the same way as before
□ Discharged from the hospital in a state where he can do housework for his family
□ I wish I could live at home
Wait, ideas might come out.
Once you have a specific goal or purpose, you can think about ways to achieve it.
Let's say your goal or purpose is to "put the hospital in a state where it can do household chores for the family".
It is important to think concretely about how to achieve this content by identifying specific means.
◆ Able to do general household chores while walking or walking with a cane.
◆ Can sit on a chair, walk in the kitchen and work
Think of such a method.
Simply put, it's a method.
A method is a way to achieve an end or purpose.
In terms of rehabilitation, we will focus on this approach, identifying specific rehabilitation content.
At the end
This time, I talked about thinking about ends and means separately.
After a stroke, you have to think about a lot, and it can be hard to keep up.
Even with goals and purposes in mind, it can be difficult to digest them.
I hope that by reading this article, you will be able to feel a little more relaxed.
