For a few days, I wrote about home renovations and what to expect after leaving the hospital.

'Things I want to assume about life after discharge'
I'm Aoi Hashima, an occupational therapist who works in Saga Sumai and Fukuoka. A few days ago, the home improvement checkpoint...
This time, I want to summarize the process of actually renovating the house.
if you are hospitalized
During the hospital stay, regular discussions, called meetings, are held with hospital staff, postpartum patients, and their families.
During the meeting, we will discuss the rehabilitation content and discharge support for home discharge.
If it is determined during the meeting that the home needs to be renovated, we will confirm the existence of long-term care insurance and explain the process for applying for long-term care insurance to me and my family.
Social workers and nursing managers in charge of the hospital will handle the various procedures and procedures, right up to home renovations.
It is important to note that the discharge date must be determined.
House decoration process
① Discussion with medical staff and nursing managers↓
②Meet with home improvement contractor↓
③ Prepare documents required for home renovation (estimation, construction drawings, reasons for needing renovation, etc.)
↓
④ Apply for the necessary documents to the insurer (cities, towns and villages)↓
⑤ Pre-approval by the insurer (municipalities directly under the Central Government)
↓
⑥ Payment to the house maintenance contractor (full payment)
↓
⑦ House renovation fee payment application (reimbursement payment)
↓
⑧The insurance money will be transferred to the designated account
The above process is the process of general home decoration.
Depending on the municipality, in addition to reimbursement, there are areas where entrusted payment is accepted.
Check with the care manager if it is possible to pay for the home improvement in full and then only pay the insurance back later, or just pay the contractor's contributions and let the contractor claim the remainder of the insurance. I think you should give it a try.
After leaving the hospital and starting life at home
If you have long-term care insurance and have a care manager, consult with your care manager to determine if you need to renovate your home.
If you do not have a care manager in charge, check with the Citizens Nursing Insurance window in your area.
The procedure for home improvement with long-term care insurance is the same as for hospitalization.
If you do not have long-term care insurance (you are not old enough to apply for long-term care insurance) and you have proof of a physical disability, you can use benefits for tools of daily living (home improvement expenses).
If you have a physical disability certificate of level 3 or above, you can change to a toilet for the disabled with upper limbs of level 2 or above.
Tools of daily living (home improvement expenses) are eligible for benefits,
□ Handrail installation
□ Eliminate floor steps
□ Replace the floor
□ Change the door
□ Replace Japanese-style toilets with Western-style toilets
Covers 5 renovations.
In addition, there is a subsidy program for home-based housing facilities for the severely disabled, targeting families with grade 1 and 2 physical disability certificates that only pay the per capita municipal tax or less.
Home subsidized housing facilities for people with severe disabilities include the construction of bathrooms and restrooms, but some construction does not.
