用熟悉的东西进行自我训练:使用毛巾

Self-train with something familiar: use a towel

I'm Aoi Hashima , an occupational therapist working in Saga Sumai and Fukuoka.

Once, while I was self-training at home for my paralyzed hand, I was asked if I should buy a hospital recovery room kit.

In the rehabilitation of the paralyzed hand, I believe that the use of tools used in daily life will itself be a specific method of rehabilitation.

The most popular item you can find in hospital recovery rooms and at home are towels.

I think "towels" are a versatile tool that can be used for recovery.

This time, we will introduce volunteer training using towels under the title "Rehabilitation of Familiar Things: Towels".

wipe

In a table-wiping motion, move your shoulders back and forth, side to side.

Place the paralyzed hand on the towel and hold the paralyzed hand with the other hand.

Repeat by sliding the towel forward on the table in front of your body.

We often ask paralyzed people who can't move their hands at all, those who can move a little.

Sorry for the incomprehensible photo, but in the photo above, the towel is swaying from side to side.

It is also often done by people who are paralyzed, whose hands cannot move at all or can move a little.

finger flexion

Place the paralyzed hand on the towel and perform finger flexion as shown.

I often ask people who have started moving their fingers.

body wash practice

When washing your back, grab the edge of the towel with both hands and wrap it around your back.

They hold the ends of the towels firmly and move them to wash their backs.

We often invite people who can hold things firmly with their fingers.

At the end

This time, I introduced self-training with something familiar: the towel.

Be aware of shoulder pain while performing.

I'd be happy if you could use it as a reference.
